I really love summer: long and sunny days, warm weather, dried salt on the skin after a swim in the Sicilian sea, that feeling of being always on holiday … and then ice creams, and summer fruit. However I must admit that if anyone asked me what is the season that inspires me the most, I would instinctively say “autumn of course!”.
Seasonal fruit is the first thing that comes to my mind when I think about autumn…
Apples, berries, figs and dried fruit are perfect not only for beautiful and tasty cakes but also for themed centrepieces, together with wood and dried leaves.
…and then the warm colours of this season.
With colours varying from yellow to brown, via the orange and all its different shades, autumn colours bring relax, peace and a sense of re-connection with nature. Today I propose few autumn cakes and desserts for everyone!
Drip cakes were the most famous trend in 2016 and they are still having an incredible success! This dripping caramel cake with figs and berries, in perfect autumn style, is suitable for an intimate wedding, a birthday party or even for a simple dinner with friends!
Wood and apple cake
Apples, bark and leaves make this cake a true triumph of autumn. I love the floral details and the choice of adding a touch of white to emphasise every detail. I find it perfect for a themed wedding in autumn.
Salted caramel praline macarons
Not every occasion needs a cake. Dinners with family or colleagues, pyjama parties, conferences: these are just a few examples. Actually macarons are a tasty choice. When I saw this picture I immediately wanted to turn on the oven and bake these macarons! If you have the same thought here you can find the original recipe.
And finally, autumn is also the season of yellow pumpkins and Halloween. In this post I could not miss including pumpkin cupcakes for a bewitched birthday or for a theme party on the night of the zombies!
I hope that these cakes, so different in their styles, can be of inspiration for your events!
