You may already know that once a year, every December since 2000, Pantone®, declares the representative colour of the following year. This is not a random choice but the result of a careful analysis of future trends within different sectors (i.e. fashion, interior design, art and entertainment) that are then interpreted by a team of colour experts. Last December,Pantone® announced the Colour of the Year 2017: Greenery, a fresh and sparkling green-yellow shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature revives after winter.
As stated by Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of Pantone Colour Institute®:
“Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the reassurance we yearn for amid a tumultuous social and political environment”.
Faced with a turbulent and uncertain environment, there is the desire to reconnect with nature, the need to take a deep breath in the open air. And it is for these reasons that Greenery has established itself in every area of daily life and the world around us, from urban planning to the world of design and fashion. Its success is global.
How to pair Greenery?
Regarding combinations with other hues, it is Pantone® itself to suggest neutral and bright not too strong colours, such as the shades of pink, cyclamen and blue to obtain a relaxing effect. Actually, greenery is perfect even with deeper hues, such as intense violet or dark blue and with metallic shades.
